Updates

February 25th, 2011 - I have been getting a few emails about updating the site and in regards to what is happening with LURISA, all is well. I have been waiting for the list to grow to at least 500+ before I make another move, we need as many people behind this as we can get, otherwise they just won't listen. I was also thinking of adding the email addresses of those that need to be emailed(those that can make a difference and change things) to this website so that everyone can email them, so its not just one person, but not sure if this is the best option yet, email me any ideas that you might have of the best way to let them know(I promise I will answer the emails, I sincerely apologise for the silence, things have been hectic and I've mainly been waiting for the list to grow to 500+ (nearly there!) so there wasn't really anything I could update the site with.

Another note, if anyone is at any events or going to or participating in any events in regards to anything to do with riding, then please do all you can to let people know, maybe print off a simple flyer or something and take it with you and stick it up for everyone to see, I will try and contact MSA also to see if I can get them(and their members!) on board as that will be a massive boost.

So by all means don't give up, I certainly haven't even though things have been quiet, I'm still here and still adding names to the list so please keep it up everyone, you're doing a great job, the list has already surpassed my hopes of what I thought it would reach which is fantastic, keep doing all you can and hopefully we can get something done!

RIde safe.

November 16, 2010 - Just a quick update to let you know that LURISA is all still a go. We now have  over 400 names on the list and its rising at a steady pace, so please keep it up, do another round of spreading the word, let clubs know, your friends on Facebook/Twitter. You can now let people from other countries know so they can add their names, I have added a "Not in Australia" option where you select your state. You may be wondering why bother adding the option, but I figure its going to help having support from International trail bike riders too, we have the potential to have some of the best riding in Australia and if word gets around then it will be a huge bonus to have visitors from overseas come riding in our country and state. Things have been quiet around here because I have just been letting the list grow more and more before going on another wave of emails etc. We need to get as much power and voice behind the cause as we can so it makes the cause worthwhile. So please keep doing all you can and thanks again to those that have already added their names.

August 26 2010 - Over 140 names on the list now, great work everyone, keep it up! Spread the word!

A few ideas have come up about ways that we could get more access. Things we could do to help it happen.

For example - We could each pay a donation, say $2-$10 or something similar before we go riding, either for charity or a foundation of some sort, maybe even just for the local communities or the forests themselves. I'm sure most of us would be willing to help out the place if we were allowed access to forests and trails across the state. It would be like the current camping permit style that is currently in National Parks, if it allowed us more access to enjoy our forests and trails then I'm sure trail bike riders would be more than willing to help out.

Another idea that came up was that something could be created along the lines of the Heysen Trail, but for trail bikes. Start off in the South East forests and beaches, then through the sandy mallee country and then onto the beautiful Flinders Ranges and into the Outback. It would have the potential to become a world known trail/adventure that could inject dollars into each community it passed through with supplies and fuel etc.

I'm sure trail bike riders would love something along those lines, just for something to be done is the main thing, we want and need more access. We just want to enjoy what we love doing, we are paying our registrations, we are licensed, there is no reason why we shouldn't be allowed access to more in forests and across all areas of the state of South Australia, especially in our local forests within 30 minutes of Adelaide, these are the most important ones where more access is needed, it makes no sense to have to take our bikes and travel a couple of hours or more to enjoy riding in our state, when we have beautiful forests to share in our own backyards!

Keep up the good work everyone, spread the word and lets get something done about it! If anyone knows any clubs, forums, magazines, politicians or anyone that could help get something done, then please do no hesitate to let them know, do everything you can to let those with the power to change know that something really needs to be done.

Thanks,

LURISA.
